February 2020.
I’m looking forward to the publication of ‘Brother Wulf’ on April 16, this year. It is really great to return to the world of the Spook but with a new twist. Wulf, the hero and narrator, is a young monk who has been working for Spook Johnson in Salford, far to the south of the County. When Johnson gets into serious trouble, being captured by something powerful from the dark, Wulf has to go for help.
He travels north to the one place where help might be available – to Chipenden where Tom Ward lives. Two years have passed since the last book (‘Dark Assassin’) and things have changed. But despite his own difficulties, Tom cannot refuse a call for help from a fellow spook. But little does he realise the danger that he faces.
There are many characters from the existing series (Tom Ward, Alice Deane and even an appearance by Grimalkin) and it is set in the same Spook’s world. But it is a world that is about to change. I should know because I’ve just finished the first draft of the second book and I am busy polishing it before sending it to my editor.
The second book will take the story in a new direction. The old characters are still present (with a much bigger part for Grimalkin) but there are new ones too including someone called Hrothgar who will change Wulf and change his world. I borrowed the name from an old text. Anyone like to tell me which one?
Now I have to decide what to write next and need to consult my publisher. I would be happy to write a third Wulf book but also have already completed the rough version of a new YA and Teen book – something totally new. Additionally, I have an adult book with a new twist on vampires and demons that I am tempted to polish and submit. So, we shall see!
From now on I will write a monthly blog to keep you up to date on my progress. The next one will be out in March.
Best wishes,
Joseph Delaney
Hi mr. Delaney,
That sounds wonderful! Thanks for working so hard on these books. Been a fan since I was 12 years old (I’m 22 now). I have so many lovely memories of your characters. Can’t wait for the next instalment!
